The episode, which is available on the official Youtube page of the streaming platform, Disney + Hotstar, features the trio having a free-wheeling conversation. Karan Johar began the interaction by praising Dhanush for his National Award-winning performance in Asuran, describing it to be a performance that knocked him in the “solar plexus”.
On the show, Dhanush said that he had said yes to Atrangi Re solely on the basis of the fact that it was being helmed by Aanand L Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma. “All I had to hear was Aanand Rai was making it and Himanshu was writing it. And, I was sold. I said, “Okay, I will do it and listen to it later.” I have immense faith in them as they have in me.”
Sara Ali Khan also addressed questions regarding the “massive age gap” between her and her male co-stars Dhanush and Akshay Kumar. “All I can say is, “Watch the film.” What else can I say right now?” Sara Ali Khan further confessed that she was nervous to be working with superstars like Dhanush and Akshay Kumar but added that everyone on set made her feel comfortable. She described Dhanush to be “easy-going and supportive.”
Dhanush, meanwhile, said that he was “pleasantly surprised by how seriously she (Sara Ali Khan) took this part…It is a dream role for any actor.” He added, “I told Aanand L Rai I wish I had Rinku’s role,” referring to Sara’s character in the film.
Speaking about their co-star Akshay Kumar, Dhanush said, “He is a very kind, sweet and honest man. The honesty adds something so beautiful to him, onscreen and offscreen.”
The team also engaged in the famed Rapid Fire round. Dhanush revealed that he was open to doing more Hindi films. He also added that punctuality was one trait Bollywood could learn from the south Indian film industries.
Sara Ali Khan, meanwhile, picked Ranveer Singh, Vijay Deverakonda, Vicky Kaushal and Varun Dhawan to be part of her swayamvar. She also picked Alia Bhatt as her role model from among the current actors.
