Rain in Telangana: Rainfall to continue in Telangana till July 23 | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The rainfall activity is likely to continue in the city as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has extended the rainfall warning till July 23.
The cloud overcast led to a sharp drop in the mercury levels. As per the IMD, Hyderabad, the maximum temperature in the city dropped to 24.6 degree Celsius on Thursday, which was six degree Celsius below normal. Whereas, the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.8 degree Celsius.
Meteorologists forecast that the northern districts of Telangana such as Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Komaram Bheem, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadadri Kothagudem and Khammam are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rains on July 22-23.
“A low pressure area is forming over the Bay of Bengal that may trigger heavy rains in many parts of Telangana for the next two days. Thereafter, the low pressure area will become less marked resulting in a drop in the rainfall activity for a few days,” said Mahesh Palawat, vice president of meteorology and climate change at Skymet, an independent weather forecasting agency.
Meteorologists said that under its influence, fairly widespread rains with isolated heavy to very heavy showers are expected in interior Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
As per IMD, Hyderabad Telangana has recorded 60 per cent of excess rainfall to the tune of 439.5 mm as against normal of 274.6 mm from June 1 till date.
