Telangana: 30 candidates in fray for Huzurabad assembly by-poll after withdrawal of nominations | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: With 12 persons withdrawing their nominations on Wednesday, 30 contestants will be in fray in the Huzurabad assembly by-elections on October 30. Among those who withdrew was Eatala Jamuna, wife of BJP candidate Eatala Rajendar who figured among the independents list. She had filed a nomination as a back-up for her husband.
In all, 42 nominations were found to be in order at the time of scrutiny of the 61 candidates who filed their nominations.
The main fight will be between the TRS, BJP and Congress in the polls which have been necessitated due to the resignation of Eatala Rajendar from the cabinet and also as a legislator from Huzurabad. Gellu Srinivas Yadav is the TRS candidate and Venkat Narsing Rao Balmoor is the Congress candidate for the poll.
On the last day of withdrawals up to 3 pm on Wednesday, apart from Eatala Jamuna, Vontela Linga Reddy who filed his nomination as a back-up candidate for the official party nominee also withdrew his nomination. The other candidates who withdrew were Kolulguri Raj Kumar, Emmadi Ravi, Angoth Vinod Kumar, Rekala Saidulu, Koutam Ravinder, Enagandula Venkateshwarlu, Noor Jahan Begum, Varikolu Sriivas, Pettemm Mallikarjun and Gurram Kiran, according to the Returning Officer.
Election officials on Wednesday held a meeting in connection with the arrangements for the polls. As many as 30 sectoral officers have been appointed and another eight have been kept in reserve. The officers have been asked to check the arrangements planned and being made at all the polling stations. Specific directions have been given to officials to see that the local residents near the polling stations are not put to any hardship because of the activity near the polling station.
