HYDERABAD: The Congress on Sunday demanded that the Telangana government constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to inquire into the alleged rape and murder of a girl by a local TRS leader.
Congress minorities cell city wing chairman Sameer Waliullah along with TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin among others met the family members of the victim at their residence in Moinabad on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons later, Sameer Waliullah said the family members of the victim are accusing the TRS leader Madhu Yadav. However, the police are trying to show girl’s death as suicide. The girl, 18, was found murdered on September 25 under Moinabad police limits.
Stating that some of the ruling party leaders are allegedly exerting pressure on the local police to hush up the case, the Congress members demanded that the state government constitute a SIT to probe into the case in a fair manner. The culprit should be punished by conducting the trial in a fast track court.
The victim was the bread earner of the family and used to look after her mother and a younger sister. Therefore, the state government should pay adequate compensation to the family.
